Marge Kafka '90: Distinguished Career Award Winner

The Distinguished Career Award is presented annually to a Medaille graduate in recognition of his or her professional achievements. This year’s winner is Margaret Kafka '90.

Marge Kafka is a 1990 graduate of Medaille College and currently serves as the Vice President of Corporate Services for Merchants Insurance Group. For eleven years Marge worked her way from Commercial Lines Rater to Rating Supervisor and then Regional Services Manager. From there she served as a Manager for Staff Services and systems Support, moved to Assistant Vice President of Policyholders Services and in 1989 moved into her current role as Vice President of Corporate Services.

During that same time period, she found a way to attend Medaille at night and earned her bachelor’s degree in 1990.

Marge has nearly 40 years of experience in the insurance industry and her talent for managing people, workflow and project management has been extremely valuable for Merchants. Her planning and implementation of processes and procedures have allowed merchants to realize over $3 million in savings.

While Marge worked her way up through Merchants, she also felt a strong commitment to the Western New York community. She is the Chair for the Girl Scout Council of Buffalo, and serves on the Niagara Frontier Industry Education Council Board, where she also served as Chair person. She also served on the Buffalo/Niagara Partnership Women to Women Mentoring Program. She also serves as an active member on the Medaille College Board of Trustees.

Home to Medaille's undergraduate programs, the Buffalo Campus also houses many administrative offices.

Amherst Campus

Graduate programs run year-round at the Medaille's Amherst Campus, including education, mental health counseling, and psychology degrees, along with the Accelerated Learning Program.

Rochester Campus

With a location in the town of Brighton, Medaille dedicated its campus in Rochester in the summer of 2009, offering associate, bachelor's and master's degrees in business.
