Medaille College will present diplomas to the graduating Class of
2012 at its annual Commencement Ceremonies on Friday, May 18, 2012 at
Kleinhans Music Hall in Buffalo.
As in past years, Medaille will hold two separate ceremonies at 1
p.m. and 7 p.m. to accommodate the College’s graduating classes of
master’s, bachelor’s and associate degree recipients through programs at
campuses in Buffalo, Amherst and Rochester.
Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz will deliver remarks at the
afternoon graduate ceremony, and Interim Superintendent of Buffalo
Schools Amber M. Dixon will address the evening ceremony’s undergraduate
students.
Mark Poloncarz began his first term as Erie County’s Executive in
2012. He grew up in Lackawanna, and attended the University at Buffalo
and the University of Toledo’s College of Law. He moved back home to
Western New York to practice corporate and finance law before being
elected to the office of Erie County Comptroller in 2005.
Amber M. Dixon, a graduate of Medaille College, began as interim
superintendent of the Buffalo Public School District in September 2011. A
former math teacher, she has worked for the district for over 20 years.
Dixon was born and raised in Buffalo, and her son, Sean, is a
successful graduate of the Buffalo Public School District.
