Medaille College is proud to announce that Matthew Mondoux has been nominated by NYS Senator Mark Grisanti to the Senate’s Veterans’ Hall of Fame, which was founded in 2005 to honor outstanding veterans from across the Empire State who have distinguished themselves both in military and civilian life.

Mondoux was inducted for his unwavering desire to serve his country and community on and off the battlefield. He served over 10 years in Afghanistan and Iraq for the Army National Guard and has received numerous awards for his service.

After being honorably discharged in May 2011, Mondoux joined in on a new fight against Lou Gehrig’s disease. He walked nearly 400 miles in 13 days from Grand Island to New York City to raise awareness for the incurable disease.

"Matthew Mondoux is a unique, big-hearted individual who considers his service to country and community to be just ordinary. The New York State Senate through the Veterans’ Hall of Fame has created a way to say thank you and honor people like Matthew who give freely of themselves in an effort to make the world a better place,” said Senator Mark Grisanti (R-60).

Mondoux was honored by the New York State Senate in a ceremony at the State Capitol on May 22. His story will be featured at the Hall of Fame in the Capitol later this year.

Mondoux is currently enrolled in Medaille’s business administration program at its Amherst Campus. Medaille College has earned recognition as a veteran-friendly school and is ranked as the nation’s 20th best college for veterans by Military Times magazine.
